Nice blog Cap'tain, I want to get the same system as yours. I've got a Samsung LE26R51B as well and I've two questions: 1) How do HD Trailers look on the LCD TV? Could you post on that topic? I'm wondering if the mini is able to display HD correctly and if it's full screen. 2)Regarding the audio of these HD trailers, do you get Surround Pro Logic out of the AAC signal from Quicktime or is it just stereo? I'll check this blog every day! Very good idea!Keep posting!
HD Trailers look extremely sharp. In QuickTime Pro you can view them full screen. If you download a trailer, you can watch it full screen in Front Row. I really like the Ice Age 2 trailer.
The AAC problem is still there. It goes in stereo to the receiver. I've read some technical articles on the subject, but you have to recode them to Pro Logic or DTS to get surround sound out of the optical out. AAC is an encoding no receiver understands.
On the AAC issue: There is one option to get 5.1 sound to your receiver: add an external Firewire or USB sound card with 5.1 analog output to your mini and hook it up to your receiver.
To me the trailers are not important enough to do this, but it is possible.
